ABOMINABLE SNOWMAN

Well, it has been a while...

Apologies for the delay in updating this - a combination of work, real life pressures and custom commissions has left me without much time to tinker with this blog - which is a bit unfair as I'd trumpeted it as the main way to keep up with my customs.

I'll make every effort to continue archiving my images and adding new content to the blog, but in the meantime, a new custom...

I'd earmarked this as one of my 'lap of honour' customs (of which much more to follow once I actually complete them all), and started work on it in 2020. But the Character Options fur coated Pat inspired me to dig it out of the work pile and finish it off ahead of schedule.

The base figure is nothing to do with Doctor Who - it's a Fozzie Bear from the sadly defunct Muppets figure line by Palisades Toys. I happened to have a spare from picking up a job lot a while back and I'd always thought the furry body and pear shaped body made it an ideal fit for the original Yeti. I wouldn't recommend it for customisers though, as they're astonishingly expensive on the aftermarket. Plus it's very upsetting having to chop half the head of a treasured childhood character!

I'd imagined the furry body would mean much less in the way of sculpting, but as is often the way of things, I ended up sculpting over a lot of it. The head is bulked up over a hollow cavity attached to the original, and the hanging fur collar is an offcut from another figure, is the skirt that hangs over the legs.

The arms have decent articulation at the shoulder, but no elbow bend, so the figure is good for calm or 'arms outstretched threatening' poses. The legs rotate at the hip which allows for balance adjustments but not much else - this was never going to be the nimblest of customs

It's good to finally have the original model in my collection. I'd made the Web version after being inspired by the CO prototype image, but this was always my preferred version.

More to come (hopefully) soon...
